FAQ

How long can sessions run?

To ensure fair distribution of available resources, inactive sessions are automatically terminated:

  • for students after 60 minutes of inactivity
  • for staff after 240 minutes of inactivity

Regardless of this, sessions may also be terminated if they run for longer than 24 hours, for example, during security-related updates to the cluster. JupyterHub is intended for interactive work sessions. For longer-running or non-interactive computing jobs, an HPC cluster is generally more suitable.

Where is my data saved?

Your default working directory ~ is set to your personal home folder, ensuring consistency across your sessions.

What is the storage limit? Can it be increased?

The storage limit is 10 GB. If you need additional storage space, please contact our support team. Your request will be reviewed, and if no other solution is available, additional storage space will be granted to you.

Can the resource quota be increased?

Resource quotas depend on the user's status and user group. Higher resource quotas of up to 16 vCPUs and 64 GB of RAM, as well as additional GPUs, can be requested. Please contact our Support team for assistance.

My Server does not start – what should I do?

If the server fails to start, either the home directory is full or the user environment is corrupted. In these cases, Log Viewer and Rescue Mode can help.

At the bottom of the Spawn page, where you select notebook images, you can see how full the home directory is.
